Even the rainy weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of the 364 alumni, parents, and friends who kicked off Homecoming Weekend 2014 November 1 with the Benjamin Franklin Society (BFS) Brunch, held in Houston Hall’s Bodek Lounge.
“As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Benjamin Franklin Society, we are also celebrating you, our leadership annual giving donors,” said John H. Zeller, Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations. “Your loyalty and support―and, of course, your love of Penn―create palpable energy across our community.”
The BFS’s celebration of 60 years continues the tradition of honoring the vibrant community of individuals whose generosity is the driving force behind Penn’s thriving success and growth.
“It is because of leadership donors like you that Penn continues to be transformed for the better, year after year,” said Penn Alumni President Julie Beren Platt, C’79, PAR’05, PAR’08, PAR’12. “Your generous annual support to Penn’s numerous schools and centers remains vital to our continued success, creating the financial flexibility that is so necessary for Penn’s leadership to seize new and exciting opportunities as they arise. Thank you for making this possible.”
The celebration continued with exciting performances from the Penn band and cheerleaders, inspiring Quaker pride and Red and Blue spirit―a spirit that, despite the football team’s 13-21 loss to Brown, prevailed throughout the weekend.
