With a unique fusion of cultural and musical influences, South Asian a cappella group Penn Masala regularly dazzles audiences around the world. From performances in India and abroad, to a 2009 engagement at the White House, to an upcoming appearance in the feature film Pitch Perfect 2, Penn Masala has achieved a renown the group’s founders likely never imagined.
Despite its international acclaim, the group remains committed to giving back to the University where it all started. This year, Penn Masala alumni have established the Penn Masala Alumni Scholarship, providing support to a student who would otherwise be unable to meet the cost of a Penn education.
Watch the video to hear Penn Masala alumni Srikant Rao, W’07, EE’07, ENG’07; Samir Sheth, W’08; and Ankit Dhir, W’10, C’10, talk about the Penn Masala experience and how it has inspired its members to give back.
